Chit Chat - My snack pack kickback
The Stage Online, Alistair Smith - 17th February 2006
I was very pleased to find a little present awaiting me on my desk when
I came into work the other morning.
And to prove that Tabard is just as susceptible to bribery and corruption
as the next man (or woman), I’m going to tell you all about the
little box of delights that sat proudly next to my old typewriter.
‘Twas a ‘Theatre Box’. No, not the small room where
you sit to watch a show but rather something you might nibble on in the
interval. The gourmet selection of canapes (that’s miniature snacks
to those of you who work on the technical side) was, I can avow, truly
scrumptious.
Mustafa, the Stage team’s cocktail-serving pet monkey, has also
assured me that the tray for carrying champagne (or maybe even a bellini)
is a handy added extra.
The box was launched on Valentine’s Day at the Piccadilly Theatre
in the interval of Guys and Dolls and was apparently a sell-out success,
much like the show.
Just a warning though - it’s not cheap, coming in at £15.
But for those of you who fancy some smoked salmon, duck with mango salsa
or rare beef fillet, rather than the crumpled up cheese and pickle sandwich
in your pocket, it may well be worth digging deep into your (other) pocket
to fork out the cash.
At the moment, you’ll have to go and see Guys and Dolls - oh, the
hardship - if you want to sample one of these new inventions but the manufacturers
are hoping to expand operations to other London venues shortly.
